Just ordered everything for the half of the centerpieces that we're making!
I saw this picture awhile ago and our florist said that he couldn't match the price that we could find the materials for online (weird, right?). But he said that he was more than willing to assemble everything if we provided the vases, branches and orchids. I had been putting ordering the materials off, but I finally just went for it. I ordered 12 cylinder vases, 36 bunches of curly willow branches (3 bunches per vase, for a total of 21 branches), and 120 stems of Blush Dedrombium Orchids from Fiftyflowers.com. Came out to a total of $35/centerpiece, which sure beats the $80/centerpiece that the florist said that he would have to charge us for the same thing. Oh well. Wedding markups are ridiculous, and now I see why people DIY their own flowers.
The only thing I can't figure out is how to do those hanging votive candles. I ordered some test branches a few months ago and they are pretty weak. My mom is afraid of fire danger so we'll probably just forgo that all together.
I hope this works! I can't wait for the branches to come, because I'll head to Trader Joe's and pick up some orchid stems to test it out.
