THE DRESS!!

I got MY DRESS!! Ahh I can't believe it! Remember the dress that I wrote about a few days ago? When I got that "tingly" feeling? Well, my mom came up on Thursday, and we made an appointment at Down the Aisle in Arroyo Grande and the Central Coast Wedding Center in San Luis Obispo (where I had tried on the dress originally). Our appointment at Down the Aisle was first, so I met my mom there. Down the Aisle is a beautiful store, stuffed with almost every dress you can imagine, along with loads of bridesmaid and Mother of the Bride/Groom dresses. It was such a great experience- we got our own huge fitting room, complete with mirrors and Laura Ashley robes and dimming lights so you could imagine what the dress would look like in the evening. Gail, the very nice consultant that helped us out, sat us down and we talked a bit about what I was looking for- A-line, lacy, romantic, vintage-y, beading, strapless, a slight sweetheart neckline- and she started pulling dresses (they had over 200 in the shop). Then, all of a sudden, she pulls THE dress- they had the exact same dress!! I exclaimed, "is that the __(name/style number- I'm not going to reveal because Jacob will google it!)" and she said, "You really know your dresses!" I explained to her that it was the dress that I had found the other day, and that the whole reason my mom had driven up here was to see that dress. SO perfect! I put it on, and it was as beautiful as I remembered! Everyone absolutely loved it!! I tried on a few other dresses, but nothing compared. After a few hours, we decided that the best thing to do would be to head back to SLO, have some lunch, and visit the other bridal store, so we could make sure we were covering all our bases. Well, we were in the SLO bridal store for about 15 minutes- the experience did not even compare. They were busy, they don't take appointments, we didn't get any personal attention, I was stuffed into a fitting room that resembled those of Ross or Kmart... needless to say, although I tried on the dress again, we decided to head back to Down the Aisle to order THE dress!!

After an hour of resting at home, we headed back to get measured and order the dress. I still can't believe it!!! The dress should be here in 4-6 months, and then it's going to need some extensive alterations that might take up to 3-4 months- the bust, hem, and possibly putting a corset back into the dress. I can't WAIT until February!!

If you want to see pictures, email me or leave a comment!! A word of warning- the sample dress was about a size too small, so the bust looks kinda ridiculous. But it's SO gorgeous and PERFECT!!! I'm SO excited!!!! Thank you Gail at Down the Aisle for being a wonderful consultant and finally helping me find my dress!!
