Save me from the heat...

Somehow, I luck out with the hottest days of the year when I go to weddings. Without fail, I end up melting in the sun and sucking down some version of lemonade or ice tea (add rasberries, lemons, strawberries... whatever your topping of choice is) and wishing that I had a fan or umbrella to cool me down. The guys have it even worse, because they generally have to either wear long sleeves or a suit. Even summer weight suit wool is brutal when you're waiting for a bride who's running 30 minutes behind schedule! Because of my luck (or curse?) of attending weddings where I turn into a puddle wearing a silk dress, I vowed that we would 1) offer lots and lots of cool drinks and 2) have paper fans and umbrellas available for the guests to use. Thanks to the Weather Channel's Wedding Planner, I have learned that the record high for July 11 was 110, while the record low was 40. I can only bet that July 11, while not traditionally very hot, will be one of those "unseasonably warm" days where everyone comments on "how gosh darn crazy it is that it's so hot outside!".
So, step 1: I ordered fans. 72 of them. Umbrellas are to come:
We'll also have some sort of lemonade and water and iced tea, just in case. Or maybe hot chocolate, if it reaches the all time low of 40 degrees. Hopefully it won't be 40, but if it is, I guess we can burn the fans and umbrellas for warmth... but the best event is the one where you're prepared for anything! Hopefully not all the guests will be clamoring over them... but I guess they can fight if they really want to. They'll have cute ribbons tied on them, or something equally crafty. But now I rest assured that at least some of the guests won't totally be melting in the heat!

Umbrella use #2: I really want to take a picture like this:

So I'll be ordering extra umbrellas for the bridal party as well! Isn't it SO cute!!?
