Getting Close.

Life is so crazy. So much has been going on! I've been completely loads of wedding tasks, and I can't even remember everything that I've done. I'm going to warn you- this post is going to be chaotic!! I've got a thousand things running through my mind that I want to get down...

I had my last bridal shower on Sunday at Jacob's Aunt Susan's house. I was able to celebrate with Jacob's side of the family/friends, and we had such a wonderful time! The theme was "Linens and Lingerie" and I got almost all of our towels, some great nighties and undies, and some other fun linens. So generous and loving!

The beautiful bow bouquet that Loren and Celena made for me!

We have been crossing things off our to-do list left and right!! We went out to Manning Park (the rehearsal dinner site) on Friday and measured the picnic tables. We then made the runners that we'll use for the dinner on Friday night. It took awhile, because we ended up making 35 ft runners! The picnic tables are pushed up right against each other, so it's basically like 4 rows of long tables. We didn't have to sew them, which was great, because the fabric is basically a fine burlap. It was just lots of ironing and trying to cut in a straight lines. High five to the roller cutter, because that made it a heck of a lot easier.

I also was able to find a fridge off Craigslist for $25! We needed something extra to store all the food for the brunch and rehearsal dinner, and I grabbed one from a lady who was moving. It's kinda ghetto, but it will definitely work for the 5 days that we'll actually need it! So funny, because we found out that Southern California Edison will actually pay you $50 to pick up an old fridge.... so we'll make $25 bucks off the deal. Haha!!

My mom and I also worked on all the signs, flip flops, and umbrellas last weekend. I made "reserved" seating signs for the family, signs for the umbrellas, flip flops, baskets, and card box/birdcage, we tied cute ribbons and labeled the flip flops, and decorated the paper umbrellas for the guests to use in case it's hot.

I also met with our florist on Friday, and finalized our order. Luckily, we were able to work it out so he'll be ordering and making all of the flowers, so we don't have to worry about the centerpieces that we were originally talking about making! Yippee!! He also helped me to choose a table cloth color, and chairs, to create an overall "look". We're going with the crushed satin in "Shell":
"Shell"- It's actually less yellow in person, more of a champagne color
Completing the "vintage" theme of the venue

We also finally got an aisle runner, and hit up Ikea on Sunday before the shower to buy a few more lanterns for centerpieces, pots for the hydrangeas that will hold the runner down, and lots of candles (we mistakenly burned everything we had during our epic Halloween party... oops!). The aisle runner is paper, and we're afraid that it's going to snag or get caught up as people walk down. My mom suggested getting some pretty potted plants to hold down the ends, so we picked up these pots:
We'll pick up some pretty flowers the week of the wedding. The runner is necessary, because my veil is cathedral length- aka LONG! We don't want it to get snagged on the ground, which is decompressed granite. We also hit up Target, and I picked up some gift wrap and tissue for the last part of the bridesmaid gifts. I am almost done! One last project... I'll do a post about that after the wedding, because I don't want to spoil the surprises! I think my mom found some shoes also. They are so cute! Gold and strappy, with low heels. Sadly I think we left them in the cart, so she is debating on whether it's worth it to drive down and get a new pair (which Target will do, within 1 week of purchase- how sweet!).

We also spent part of Saturday experimenting with aisle decorations. I was originally going to do the buckets filled with flowers, and we checked out the local flower wholesale market for their deals. I ended up grabbing some from Gelson's and playing around- and then determined that they're just going to be too heavy. Oops! So, the new idea is this:
A lot lighter. We'll get some cute paper and ribbon from the craft store, and then pick up some flowers from the flower market that week. Stick the flowers in some water tubes, and voila! Hopefully there will be someone willing to go hang them on the chairs the day of the wedding.

Lisa also found a dress this weekend! I love the color- so gorgeous!

Matt and Lauren's wedding is this weekend!! We are so excited to see them and to celebrate their big day with them!! Then we have Heather (she'll be attending Pratt next year) and Emmy's (moving on to grad work in textiles/fiber at Cranbrook) graduations, packing, and Jacob's senior design show, final concert, and graduation! I also have a dress fitting this week. Hopefully my crinoline and veil has arrived, so I can finally see the whole "look"! We'll also be sending out the invitations next week!! AHh!! I can't believe it's already May, and we're also already at that point.

Oh goodness. I had a little cry session this morning after a long weekend, a mean teacher, lots of driving, and not that much sleep. Ack! Felt a lot better after a hot shower, and a 2 hour nap. Only 3 more weeks of class, and then 3 weeks before we move! I think we found a place to live in Boston, so cross your fingers. We should know by the end of the week, hopefully. It's funny, because everyone was asking me if I was stressed out about the wedding- it's actually the least of my worries. I'm more concerned about Jacob finding a job, moving, finding a place to live, bills/money, and (as of today) avoiding the swine flu epidemic (wouldn't that be classic? "Bride Misses Wedding Because of Swine Flu"). We sure picked a great time to try to do everything all at once! Well, I guess I just have to hold on and enjoy the ride... I just keep checking out our honeymoon resort website... I can't wait for the beach.
