I am one of Ali's Mom's childhood gal pals.
I have known her all her life.
Look forward to meeting Jacob.
My favorite memory of Ali is helping her put her make-up and ballerina bun on for her first dance recital.
I remember babysitting Ali and Brenna with Michelle and their Grandma when Brenna was truly a baby and Ali was a toddler. Changing diapers, guess that's plenty embarassing.
The location and reunion with 'family' of being back in SB and witnessing the next generation wed!
Wedding planning advice: Don't sweat the small stuff and have fun. The wedding is just a day, you are marrying for a lifetime.
The music was my favorite part of my last wedding. I got to sing for two of my favorite people.
Certainly Your Theme Song but any classic romantic standards. The song I sang for the Marks was an old Blood Sweat and Tears tune from the 70's: You've Made Me So Very Happy. Check out the lyric.
Relatiing: Life as a Red Wagon...you pull for me, I pull for you. (Jane Siberry lyrics)

Lots of Love Ali Kate and Jacob

PS. just got the save the date yesterday

I don't actually know Alissa, though in my youth I almost changed my name from Lisa to Elisa, which would have sounded very close...
I have known Jacob since he was born. I think he got the very first quilt I ever made, a hand-stitched baby quilt. I'm a friend of his mom's, (Lisa Graye). I think we've known each other since we were 16? Something like that. Jacob grew up into a fabulously gorgeous and mature man. He's made us all proud. I'm sure he'll be a fabulous husband, Alissa. You're both very lucky.

Favorite memory: Jacob was a smart kid, inventive and curious, and not all that sure about this lady who came in to see his mom and spirit her away to play when I came to visit them in Santa Barbara. He drew his first "recognizable" picture at about 3yrs old - a cat, which I made into paintings on silk. Lisa has one of them, made into a shirt.

Your wedding sounds like a magical event. I hope you both enjoy the entire process, as it sounds like you will.

My favorite part at weddings is usually the fancy dresses, as I'm such a textiles nut, but the food would be next for me! I love to eat, especially if there is chocolate cake. I do like seeing wedding photographs too, so you'll have to think up some fun shots to add to your albums. I came as a clown to another friend's wedding once (not quite on purpose - I'd been working), and that made for some really weird photos. The balloons were a nice touch however...

Wedding songs - I don't think country is the sound you're looking for, but those are the most romantic by far. Often real tear jerkers. That song from the Titanic comes to mind, very classy.

I have been lucky to be married for the past 26 years. My best marriage/relationship advice is to Stick It Out. Don't Give Up. And remember that you love each other down under whatever surface issues may surface over the years. Not arguing about money or the kids helps, but staying a team is the best mental guide to a long and happy marriage. And know that the sex can only get better!! (Hard to believe that, but it's true).

Wishing you both all best!! Lisa Rose

ok, so it's taken me awhile to finally leave a comment! What can I say? Technology is NOT my strong suit!

I am Allie Kate's Aunt Melissa, her Mom's big sister. Of course, I've known Allie all her life! She is a wonderful woman, full of life, love and creativity! She actually reminds me alot of her older cousin, Traci (my daughter). Both ladies are a hard act to follow sometimes!!

Henry and I (Henry is my 6 yr. old grandson and Traci is his Mom) are flying out to Ca. to be a part of this big event. Henry is the ring bearer and is taking his job very seriously. He has also promised to dance with his grandma as Grandpa Tom is not too light on his feet. Grandpa, Uncle Graham and Aunt Kristin (G & K just got married themselves!) are also flying to CA. to be a part of this big weekend. Even tho not all family members could be there in person, I know they'll be thinking of Allie and Jacob on their big day and sending them their very best wishes!

Jacob, you are one lucky man to be getting such a wonderful woman as your wife! I just hope you can keep up with her! Just kidding!!

See you both real soon!

Love, Aunt Melissa
