This seriously is like the Biggest Loser. Maybe I should DVR some old episodes to get some more motivation. Homework for tonight: ID goals, and map out 2 days worth of meals.
On to more exciting things!! Remember last week when Jacob announced that he was taking me out to a romantic dinner to celebrate our 1 year countdown to our wedding? Well, he's Mr. Sneaky McSneakerson and and surprised me with a night away at our favorite B&B in Cambria!
A little bit of history: a few years ago (January 13, 2006, to be exact), I surprised him with a night away at the most adorable B & B ever, the Squibb House. We lucked out, had the entire place to ourselves, and had a wonderful rainy night away, complete with hot cookies, wine tasting, classic music piped throughout the house, a wood burning stove, and claw foot tub! Since then, we've tried to go back every January, but we weren't able to make it this year. I had mentioned this to Jacob a few times, and even suggested that maybe we have a night away at the Squibb House for our 1-year countdown, but he told me while he had called, they were sold out!!!
Little did I know, he was totally lying. He had actually made the reservations way back in May! He even went so far as to call my mom, and have her make up an excuse of why we couldn't come down and meet with some caterers, like I had wanted to last weekend.
So we got into Cambria (and if you are familar with the town, it's tiny!!) and we turned down the street that the Squibb House is located on. I assumed that the restaurant (The Black Cat Cafe) was on the same street (again, the town is tiny!), and offhandedly said, "Oh, I wish that we were going to the Squibb House tonight!" Jacob looked at me, a smile on his face, and said, "Well.... what if we are?" I was shocked! I said, "But they're sold out! Were you able to get a cancellation!? What?!? Did you bring clothes? When did you pack? Are you kidding me?" Then the whole plot came tumbling out: he had booked in back in May, he hid the email confirmation so I wouldn't see it, he packed a bag while I had been napping, my mom was in on the plot, etc...
He is SO wonderful. We started the evening out with wine tastings at Fermentations (a wine bar featuring local wineries), and then headed to dinner (slightly tipsy!). Dinner was amazing, cocktails, champagne and wine were delicious, dessert was even better, and taking too many pictures at the restaurant was a highlight:
