So... Many... Things... To... SCANN!!

We started our registry on Friday! Woohoo!! But I have to say... what a rediculous process!!

We had decided to go on a short getaway to San Francisco for the weekend, to visit the Blue Devils, see a show, and have some time in the city. Now that I'm done with my job, and Jacob had just finished a hard school year, we thought we deserved a break! We drove up on Thursday afternoon, and had a great evening visiting with Jacob's Blue Devil friends and seeing a very early run through of their awesome show this year. Jacob also played in "Hack Fest", where all the members of last year's show try to get together and play the whole thing! All 11.5 minutes! It was hysterical... people running all over the field, leaving out the entire ballad, random notes being played in the wrong places... I was crying from laughing so hard! We then decided to go into the city (we were in Concord) the next day- Friday- to start our registry! San Francisco is the best place to shop, because it has all the "flagship" stores- aka they are the biggest and have the most stuff. Although it's a little early, we thought we'd make the most of the $4.99/gallon gas and kill to birds with one stone!

We started off at Macy's, where we wanted to register for fine china. So, the Macy's in Santa Barbara is 2 crappy floors... well, Union Square's Macy's is 9 floors of consumer goodness. Talk about overwhelming. After wandering around for awhile, we finally found the bridal registry area and got ourselves all set up. A hint- avoid the sales talks by starting your registry online before you go! It saved us tons of time! However, another problem with 9 floors of goodness is that they have entirely too many options... but, we were successful in picking a china pattern! Woohoo! We picked Lenox's "Hannah Platinum":
We also picked out some bath towels, wine glasses and Jacob zapped some beer steins... oh lordy. Haha- he seems to think that his friends will be all over that present!

After an exhausting hour at Macy's, I got overwhelmed and we decided to head to Sur La Table. I got to be in charge of the scanner this time and... it's not as fun as it looks. Turns out, the Sur La Table we visited was the biggest one in the nation, and was in the middle of transitioning over to new types of tags. So tons of stuff didn't scan... we'll just have to add it later. But, we did have a GREAT time picking out tons of new gadgets! I don't even know what we registered for, but all of it looked so neat! Jacob is most excited about the KitchenAid Mixer that we registered for (although I don't know why, because I do all the cooking! Haha!).

And Mom-- we registered for a coffee maker, so we'll have coffee when you come and visit!

After Sur La Table we took a cab wayyy uptown to the Pottery Barn in the Castro District. It was only 13 blocks on the map... but it took us forever to get there. Good thing we didn't try to walk! We started our registry for everyday dinnerware (Pottery Barn Classic Great White) and a bunch of other neat things that they carry year round. We also registered for a gorgeous bedroom and dining room set!! Group present anyone!? :)

We plan on filling in the registries with in-season stuff when the day rolls around. But it feels so great to have the basics crossed off the list! We'll both be really busy with school and work this upcoming year, so I don't know if we'll have the luxury of taking all that time to do that. Scanning and zapping is hard work!

We also had a great time wandering around, trying to avoid the unusual San Francisco heat, shopping and eating (like always!). We LOVE San Francisco- it's such a wonderful city!!

I love San Francisco TOO! How about you come up and visit some time when I'm not out of town, huh? :) Glad you had such a great time!
