How It All Began...
Jacob and I first met as preschoolers, believe it or not, at the Oaks Preschool in Santa Barbara! We grew up together, although he was a year younger and I was much too cool to acknowledge that he even existed. We attended the same schools from preschool to high school, but then (unknowingly) parted ways for college... me to UCLA, him to Cal Poly. As fate would have it, we started hanging out after my freshman year of college, but he was dating a close friend (Shelley). So, no cigar, although I have to say I always thought he had a cute rear ;). But luckily, we had mutual friends at UCLA (Thanks Matt, Hanson and Mike Kiyoi!) and one fateful blustery October weekend he came down to LA to go snowboarding at Big Bear. I'd like to say the rest was history... but it wasn't. We started talking and hanging out, but ultimately we (he) decided in December of that year that he didn't want a long distance relationship. Well, that didn't last for long, because we kept talking and hanging out and (several snowboarding trips, slumber parties at Hollister Ranch, and late night conversations later) he asked me out (finally!!!) on April 3, 2005. We've together ever since! We survived 2.5 years of a long distance relationship (so it does work!) and are now living together in San Luis Obispo. We are truly best friends and soul mates!
About "A Kiss to Build a Dream"
When we visited New Orleans in March 2007, we were lucky enough to have dinner at the world famous Arnaud's Restaurant in the Latin Quarter. They have a live jazz trio that plays during dinner... and they came over to our table, and sang and played Louis Armstrong's "A Kiss to Build a Dream On"! Since then it's become our song... and will be our first dance at the wedding!
